    hey mitch
on the subject of which recorder to buy.
i was on the train from montreal to toronto and ran into avril benoit, the communications director of doctors without borders in canada. she showed me a video podcast of a doctor working in africa. Powerful stuff. i asked if she had sponsorships for podcasting gear, which they didn’t, so i to email around to chat with a few companies. well 2 companies came to the table without any hesitation. Roland came through with their new Edirol recorder for podcasting which is really hot, and Sanyo supplied one of their new Xacti video cameras, I think its waterproof. Anyways these are 2 companies you should check out if your thinking about tools for podcasting or video podcasting. Not only do they make great products but are were happy to help for all the right reasons without any strings or demands. They deserve a big shout out☺ thanks guys!

  • That works for me.

I know some people had issues with the Edirol, but then again, Roland is a quality company.

Thanks for the addition to the conversation Dave.

    Hey Mitch,

I share some of those Vista woes and I also had quite a few questions that were answered fairly quickly in this great forum. I hope it helps you. http://www.techsupportforum.com/

    best!

  • Thanks Marko. Like I said, I'm not sure if it's Vista, the new laptop, the new drivers. Too many "new" factors.

It all, still, begs the question: "shouldn't this stuff just work?"

    Hey Mitch,

Thanks so much for taking the time to offer up some reviews on recorders. I apologize profusely because I've been on the road and haven't been able to download the latest Six Pixels episode. (Forgot my darn external hard-drive)

As soon as I get a chance (hopefully by tomorrow) I'll tune in and soak up all your tips and advice. Many thanks once again ;)

    Cheers,

    Ryan

    Mitch,

I'm with you completely on the matter of having far too many ways of recording notes, appointments and to-do items. With desktop post-it note widgets, endless online calendars, digital audio recorders everywhere, crackberrys, cell phones, iphones on top of good old fashioned pen and notebook, the number of options is almost crippling.

Sure I like to try new things; but it's getting to the point where I'm spending more time just organizing my various task lists than I am actually completing the tasks.

It's all about using what works best for you, be that Jott.com or a Moleskine.
