Welcome to episode #322 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. After spending a few days at Content Marketing World, this past week, my head is still spinning over the myriad of opportunities that brands have when it comes to creating better relationships with customers. Another speaker at the event was Paul Roetzer of PR 20/20 (Paul has been on the podcast before: SPOS #294 - The Marketing Agency Blueprint With Paul Roetzer). He is also the author of The Marketing Agency Blueprint - The handbook for building hybrid, PR, SEO, Content, Advertising, and Web firms. We wound up having a fascinating conversation about how to grow a digital marketing business while making a personal brand scalable. We both questioned whether or not this was even possible. Beyond that, he was kind enough to introduce me to his latest project, Net Marketing Score - an online tool to help marketing agencies better qualify potential clients.     Really helpful, Mitch and Paul. I've taken the roadmap to build a personal brand, but it wasn't necessarily intentional. It's just happened that way. But I've had many of these questions myself.

    I'm still in the early stages (just completed one year) and am nowhere close to being at the stage of Chris and others to fully grasp the challenges that they face. But it concerns me since I see it on a much smaller scale.

    When it comes to growth, isn't my personal brand limited? Isn't there a point at which I need to expand and represent the values of an organization rather than that of one person?

    Anyway, I appreciate the discussion. It's inspired me to get back on task to solving this problem long-term. Thanks for the great listen!

    Jon, you bring up a great point that Mitch and I talked more about off-air — the "need to expand and represent the values of an organization..."

    We've both taken the approach of using our personal brands to positively impact the overall agency brands that we represent. Mitch does an incredible job using his platform to build the reputation (and sales) of Twist Image, and I've tried to do the same with PR 20/20.

    It's tricky, but I believe a balance is achievable with the right values (and goals) in place.

    Great conversation on many levels.

    In particular, you touched on the concept of "values" vs "goals" with respect to setting priorities and basically having a more fulfilling life. Where might we learn more about this concept?

    This was a great podcast. As most week's I listen to it twice because there is so much to absorb.
    In addition to what others said above, I'd offer two more.
    First, how important it is to measure impact not activity level.
    Second, the importance of adaptive leadership skills to adjust to the constantly changes in the marketplace.
    It has given me a lot to think about.

    Mitch & Paul, I loved this podcast, and very timely for me.

    Mitch - thanks for insights around your personal brand strategy and how the goal for you is building growth for Twist Image. My challenge is similar in that I'm juggling 3 brands - 1. My own, 2. My digital agency, 3. An enterprise social media tech platform (product) that I'm a cofounder of.

    Any additional advice or direction to further reading on how I plan my personal brand strategy to deliver maximum leverage and value to the other 2 brands I represent would be much appreciated?
