SPOS #273 - Seth Godin Is Weird

Welcome to episode #273 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. Seth Godin is more than a Marketer's Marketer, he's quickly becoming a major book publisher that is making the other major book publisher's nervous. He threatened to re-invent the book publishing business earlier this year with The Domino Project (powered by Amazon) and, with close to ten titles already released (all of the best-sellers), he has yet to disappoint. It turns out, that publishing other business book authors has also inspired him to write even more. His latest book, We Are All Weird, is a blunt look at the end of mass media and what this all means to marketers still scrambling to save traditional advertising (hint: it ain't pretty). As usual, Seth is insightful, funny and always provocative (part of the reason each and every one of his own books are consistent best-sellers). Enjoy the conversation...

What a treat to hear this. Thanks. You two have great chemistry. I've read the book twice and loved every bit of it possibly because it explains me to myself.

You made the comment about being weird as a kid because of your comics. For me, it was because I listened to and played music my peers didn't like. Weird has always ruled for me and this book and the conversation sure made sense.

Been a long time since I posted a comment, Mitch...however, I've been enjoying the content you consistently produce for us weirdos out here. I believe my last post went on a rant about my parent's small-town service station business and my grandmother who worked the switchboard and her sister who was married to the local Baptist preacher: my sister and I had the best and most relevant news feeds available to us as kids...primal social networking. Much like sitting in a deep jungle and hearing the beat of a tribal drum.

The Godin Brand: profound simplicity. The Joel Brand: connected pixelation. Combine these forces of change, and weirdly scattered, broken tiles become a focused mosaic.

Thank you from our depths for developing the network of relationships that inform and stretch our horizons, Mitch. You are a rich man indeed.

Mitch - as an iTunes subscriber, this was a great find and I agree with the other posters that you and Seth get along well and this was a pleasure to listen to.

Also great to learn about David Usher through the music you play at the end :-)
