The Road To Being A Billionaire

If you don't know who Tony Hsieh is, you have to read this...

I've blogged about Hsieh before. You probably know him as the CEO of Zappos. Zappos was acquired by Amazon for over one billion dollars in 2009. Prior to that, Hsieh sold his other company, LinkExchange to Microsoft for $265 million dollars in 1999. He has a bestselling business book, Delivering Happiness, along with being a very active venture capitalist. Currently, he is deeply involved with restoring downtown Las Vegas with a personal investment of $350 million dollars. But, here's the thing: Tony Hsieh is only 39 years old. Astonishing. He tells his story in this fascinating conversation with Kevin Rose for the always-watching video podcast, Foundation.

If you don't know who Tony Hsieh is, you have to watch this...

Brilliant to say the least and could only come from a fresh new mind...companies can learn a lot about creating a cultural rich company from this gentleman.

The Vegas investment was wise taking advantage of downturn in market, he's got a really good understanding of what people are looking for in a company and that's what its all about for him. Now, if only we had such companies and entrepreneurs in Canada. Definitely a guy who walks the talk!

It's easy to roll your eyes at Zappos because they are ubiquitously praised and held up as an example these days, but watching this video really brings home WHY that is so. I absolutely was inspired by his idea of an "inside out" campus that, rather than being a cocoon is a contributor to the larger community. Mind. Blown.
