Taming The Twitter Beast

Here's a great, little (but very funny) clip about Twitter from Dailymotion titled, Twouble With Twitter. I took a lot of it personally, which probably speaks to how true it is.

My sentiments exactly. I have no use at all for personal tweets.
However I could see myself signing up for a twitter feed of traffic or weather reports. Or online marketing trends and updates ;-)

    This is hilarious!

    "don't you twitterstand?"

I just signed up a few weeks ago after our creative director set up a corporate profile for us. I haven't really used it much, but I do think Twitter has some inherent value. I like how focused & simplistic it is. I think they could do a better job of designing more of a "fill in the blank" type of interface to describe what ones "status" is at any given moment, but overall I think its pretty cool how successful they've been by basically creating a whole site around what is essentially your Facebook status.

I have been trying to figure out the use of twitter as this video pretty much sums up my sentiments. The only exception are some of the news feeds or people who add interesting content (like you) - otherwise I could care less...

brilliant ...twitter's a great information resource and a valuable personal learning network, if only people wouldn't constantly pollute the twitosphere with inane and trivial life details... if someone's tweeting every 10 minutes, they have a problem - get help ...and maybe a dog....
PS - awesome blog, podcasts and tweets - thx for sharing!

While the video pokes fun at Twitter, you can tell it is someone who has spent a fair bit of time there who has written it (especially with the fail whale references and some of the visuals).

It's good to laugh at ourselves once in a while.

    Cheers!

This video only gets part of the Twitter phenomenon. I find that what all of these applications do is connect people. Whether it's the sharing of images, stories, videos or small thoughts and links. If people enjoy connecting though social networking apps it's all harmless. It's all about a healthy balance of life on and off line. I agree it's good to have a sense of humour about ourselves though.

My boyfriend had been holding out on signing up for twitter until he had an iPhone. Then we watched this video last weekend and his reply was "Fiiiiiine, I'll sign up for twitter!" I guess reverse psychology is alive and well?

This is why I started twittering (tweeting?), thanks to @czdesign for the original tweet: http://tinyurl.com/d2jh8r. BTW I do enjoy your tweets ;-) so don't take the video too personally!
