Online Video Is About To Change Marketing Forever

    I have to respectfully disagree about video changing everything in fact I think its the worst platform for marketing. I just don't think you can target your consumers with video as effectively as say email. Case in point, amazon, they are always sending me relevant book titles or other items that are of interest to me and usually buy because of this.

    When I watch a video I might like the content but the advertising might not be relevant to me. If we take 'comedians in cars', although they are advertising cars it has no relevance to my life now or in the future since I consider a car of a means to get from point A to point B and have no loyalty to any car company since you only buy once every ten years.

    I might be generalizing but unless their is the ability to change the ad in a video based on what is more relevant to a user, I think its a waste of advertising money.

      I think that Amazon and everyone else will continue to do email campaigns. It really isn't about one or the other. Video expresses ideas better then writing and is easier for people to share via social media. There are numerous examples of entrepreneurs branding with Youtube channels and then affiliating with large companies once they start getting views.

      These are examples of normal people starting small businesses and branding. Now they both have nice sized brands and continue to grow. I think that they do wonderful advertising for their affiliates.

      Any small business can do this, but it requires hard work and an investment in intangible things like knowledge/culture. An investment that most small businesses are scared to make, because let's face it, they just aren't that creative.
