    I consume podcasts like some people breathe air, but this is the first time I've listened to Six Pixels of Separation. Didn't seem too bad, but goodness, Joseph Jaffe is intellectually lazy. In itself, this isn't the end of the world - lots of people are ignorant or contradict themselves continuously or pull guesses out of thin air. What makes it so annoying is that he does it with such confidence and self-importance, as if he truly believes that he is offering anything of value. He just makes stuff up on the fly, and can't even agree with himself under which order of magnitude to place his useless guess ("10,000 or maybe 100,000", "Definitely advertise on the SuperBowl if you can afford it / I don't even know if anyone bought a Volkswagen," [not counting the fact that he describes a 30-second ad as "a fleeting moment," so clearly hasn't heard of a term called "memory," but then, at the same time keeps referring to that fleeting moment back in 1984 that supposedly no one remembers... I could go on, but jeez, the skill I'm looking for in a non-fiction is "logic"] "SOPA and COPA, no wait, that's PIPA, COPA's with kids."). Wow, 283 episodes and this is the quality of information on offer? I hope your friend Joseph's not a regular guest (I didn't check), because, Joel, you sound like you may have something to offer in the absence of a hot air balloon.

      Mitch, after saying that above, I was so irked that I had to go and check out Joseph's blog to see if he really is that full of it, or if he's just having a bad day. Wow, he actually believes he COINED THE PHRASE (although he thinks it's a "term," "join the conversation." As a South African, I could not help but notice the uncanny similarity between the "8" in his "Evol8tion" brand's color scheme and that of 8ta, a South African mobile service provider. Presumably I can't post a link here, so Google it: '8ta logo.' Nice pink and black thing you've got going there. Not really sure what 'Evol8tion' is about, because the "About" page offers up Flash instead of a simple description. I also noticed that he is a regular on the podcast, so I will have to thank you for that hour and respectfully unsubscribe. If one episode got me this irked, I would not like to repeat the experience.

        Hey Mitch, I know Joe's your friend, so I didn't exactly expect a resounding agreement from you. And you're right, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I do note, however, that you didn't touch on any of the facts.

        As I said, nothing against you or your podcast, but, wait, I don't have to repeat it, just because you did three paragraphs that didn't touch on any of the issues I identified, doesn't mean I have to repeat anything - just scroll up.

        Good luck with your podcast - you're bearing down on 300!

    • Every week, I interview/have a conversation with different people who affect marketing, business and leadership. Joe and I try to have frequent conversations (nearly monthly). Not every episode is going to resonate with every one. That is the beauty of Podcasts - you can pick and choose which ones you might want to listen to. Personally, I find that I grow and develop when I expand beyond the shows I know into other types of Podcasts.

      Joe is not only smart, but a good friend so it's hard for me to read and/or agree with your comments, but your obviously entitled to your own opinion and the ability to express it here.

      That being said, if you no longer listen, that is your own choice. I'm going to keep on Podcasting, sharing and bringing different voices to light... some you may agree with, others you may not. Variety is the spice of life.
