Does Marketing Have A "Bruce Lee"?

Bruce Lee was (and still is) an amazingly inspirational person (and you don't have to like martial arts or combative sports to appreciate him).

Every other year, I make sure to take a re-read through the book, Tao of Jeet Kune Do, by Bruce Lee. Lee is part philosopher, part innovator and all intensity. This little documentary that I came across (hat-tip Tony Blauer) has some great interview segments where one could simply swap out the words "martial arts" and replace them with "marketing" or "social media." What will it take to move Marketing forward? Asking questions, like the ones Lee had of the martial arts back then, might well provide us with some answers...

"If you just say: Here I'm, as a human being, how I can express myself totally and complitly?"
Bruce Lee was a revolutionist. In martial arts invented a free research, a mentality of honestly. We can use the same attitude in many areas.

I like the part about 'stripping away the flashy non-esentials,' but how do we discern these things in marketing?
